Our People

As a law firm, LBK aims to be different, and to make a difference. Our clients are not numbers; they are people with genuine needs and concerns. They aspire to own homes; start, buy or sell businesses; protect their assests; and plan carefully for their families’ futures. And we want to be there with them, providing the expertise, advice and care they need as they negotiate the changes and decisions life presents. Read on to find out more about our team.

Partners

Chris Roche
LLB

Accredited Specialist Family Law
Chris joined the firm in 1976 and has been a partner since 1978. The Family Law Act was, coincidentally, enacted in the same year that Chris joined the firm and he has practised in that area ever since. He has been an accredited Family Law Specialist since 1993 and is presently one of only two practitioners in the North West who have that qualification. Chris relishes the opportunity to help clients through difficult times and has considerable experience in all those facets of the law which flow from the family law experience such as conveyancing, wills and estates. When he is not to be found on the golf course or the tennis court, Chris uses his time to barrack for his beloved Roosters.

David Cumming
LLB

After 28 years at LBK, David Cumming has experienced working in most areas of law that meet the needs of the local and wider community. Since becoming a partner in 1991, David has undertaken work mainly in the area of litigation – in particular family law, civil and commercial law and estate disputes. David sees that each new client presents an opportunity to help someone through a difficult situation. This often involves a challenge to think “outside the box” as he works to protect and maintain the rights of his clients. David says there is no “one size fits all” solution.

Wayne Riggien
B. Comm LLB Notary Public

With almost 20 years experience advising a diverse client base, Wayne’s clients appreciate his practical grasp of commercial practices, and his wide knowledge of business and law. Wayne acts as a Director for several client companies, and he is often invited to participate in strategic management and planning meetings. Wayne is known for developing close working relationships with his clients. Appointed partner in 2007, Wayne leads the firm’s Commercial Group which has three teams – Commercial, Property and Conveyancing.

Bridget Cumming
BA Dip Law ( SAB)

A solicitor for 21 years and a partner since 1st July 2014, Bridget practises in the areas of personal injury litigation, including medical negligence, in both Supreme Court and District Court matters. Bridget has been part of the team at LBK for almost 12 years. She recently expanded her practice to include Wills, estates, succession planning and employment law.
